Rest, Reset and Renew.

The year is drawing to a close. Festivities have been had and we’re coming up to another trip around the Sun.

You may be a little lost as to what to do with your time between Christmas and New Year and here at AKT we have some suggestions:

The Christmas Vortex

What day is it? You can’t remember. What am I doing with myself? Nothing. You, my friend, are in the Christmas Vortex - that period of time between Christmas and New Year where nothing makes sense and you’re still shoving roast potatoes in your mouth.

Don’t fight it - embrace it. There’s nothing else to do. No goals to achieve. No expectations.  Binge watch another movie you’ve seen 20 times before and settle in. No guilt!

Reset

If the idea of lounging around sends you into a spin, we’ve got you.

Keep yourself busy by getting things in order before the clock strikes midnight on the 31st.

Turn your leftovers from your festive feast into something delicious; recycle your wrapping paper properly; give your space a clean ready for a new chapter. With all those unwanted extras gone you’ll be revived and ready.

This could also be the time to up your self-care. Indulge in some me-time and make yourself feel pampered for 2024.

Unplug

Now, looking at work email is FORBIDDEN but if you wanted to now might be the right time to cleanse your inbox. Unsubscribe from any unwanted emails; organise your folders so everything has it place.

This could also be the perfect time to step away from your devices altogether. A digital detox will give your mind clarity and room to connect in a more meaningful way with family and friends. No distractions.

Reflect

Whether you’re a “New Year, New Me” kind of person or it’s just another day for you this time can be a great opportunity to reflect on the year gone by and to look ahead at what’s to come.

Letting go of things that no longer serve you and making plans for new goals can be therapeutic.

We recommend using the free resource Year Compass to help you get started.

Whatever you decide to do in the run up to New Year we wish you well and we can’t wait to see you in 2024, whatever it may bring.
