Our starting recommendation is a pea-size amount to each underarm once a day. Preferably on freshly showered skin. 1 50ml tube lasts 6 weeks on average, 5ml tubes 5-7 days, and is delivered every 6 weeks with our subscription offering. If you need more or less you can customise how frequently you’d like it delivered in your account. Easy.

Our formulation contains no aluminium chlorohydrate so will not block your sweat ducts to stop you sweating. However our formula contains Deo-Barrier Complex™️ to absorb your natural perspiration to keep you feeling dry and fresh all day. If haven't used a natural deodorant before, we'd recommend you take a read of our How to Make the Switch blog to get you clued up on the transition period. If you are new to natural deodorant, transitioning from conventional antiperspirants to natural deodorants can sometimes lead to an initial increase in sweating. This is perfectly normal and indicates your body's natural detoxification process. As your body adjusts to our natural formula, you'll likely notice a decrease in sweating again. This adjustment period can vary from a few days to a few weeks after making the switch.

Natural deodorants, like AKT’s The Deodorant Balm, use sweat absorbing powders like arrowroot and diatomaceous earth, which sit on top of the skin to absorb sweat and neutralise odours with essential oils, rather than blocking your pores with aluminium or harsh chemicals. Antiperspirants use aluminium salts to block sweat glands. While this may sound useful, sweating is a natural bodily function that helps cool us down — the cooler you are, the less you’ll sweat. Yes, we know, you don’t want to sweat too much, but a little bit is okay!

Unscrew the cap and pierce the seal, we recommend using a pen. Squeeze a pea-sized amount on your finger or The Applicator and massage the balm into your underarms like a moisturiser. It absorbs instantly. But don’t stop there – feet, forehead, chest – apply anywhere you need effective protection!

All of our fragranced offerings contain essential oils. Although the levels are well within regulated limits, some people may be sensitive to our fragrance blend, particularly on underarm skin, which is one of the most delicate areas on the body. Skin reactions are often triggered by allergens in fragrances, many of which derive from essential oils. Despite their natural origin, these can be potent allergens. AKT deodorants meet IFRA standards for fragrance safety, making them ideal for those seeking vegan and cruelty-free skincare options. Everyone's skin is different, and although we have thousands of happy customers, a small percentage may find our formula too sensitive for their skin.

It’s worth noting that on rare occasions, some customers may be sensitive to sodium bicarbonate, which is in our formulation. It's a terrific ingredient for deodorising, and although we use it at extremely low levels without compromising its effectiveness, some customers may be sensitive to it. If any customers do notice a reaction, we recommend stopping the use of the product until the skin has healed.
